The Robert F. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Public Service is one of Harvard’s highest awards for public service. This award was presented to Charles at graduation by Max Kennedy, Robert Kennedy’s youngest son.
Public Service Fellowship

Charles was selected to be one of the first Public Service Fellows at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. The fellowship award included full tuition at Harvard for two years plus an additional $5,000 a year for living expenses.
Community Service Award

In 1999, Charles was awarded the Community Service Award from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government “for extraordinary service to the Kennedy School community.”

NPR’s Nationally Syndicated Show “ETown”

Etown’s E-chievement award is a nomination-based award given to “remarkable individuals who are working hard to make a positive difference in their communities and beyond.” Etown flew Charles to Colorado to receive the award in person.
